Mechanical Assembly Technician / Mechanical Fitter

Weston-super-Mare | £13.50–£16.00 per hour DOE | Monday–Friday | Overtime x1.5

Are you mechanically minded with experience in mechanical fitting, assembly, engineering or manufacturing?

Abatec is recruiting Mechanical Assembly Technicians / Mechanical Fitters to join a growing engineering and manufacturing company in Weston-super-Mare.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical, hands-on mechanical experience who wants to develop their skills within a professional engineering and manufacturing environment.

What’s on offer?

• £13.50–£16.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience
• Monday to Friday – 7:30am to 4:30pm
• Overtime available at x1.5
• Full-time hours

The role

As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will:

• Assemble, fit and inspect mechanical components
• Work from engineering drawings, technical drawings and work instructions
• Use a range of hand and power tools
• Measure and inspect components using micrometers, air gauges and other precision measuring equipment
• Carry out quality checks and identify or report defects
• Support manufacturing, assembly and production processes
• Assist with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing activities
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures

What are we looking for?

We would like to hear from candidates with experience or transferable skills from:

Mechanical fitting | Mechanical assembly | Automotive | Vehicle mechanics | Engineering | Manufacturing | Production | Factory assembly | Maintenance

You should ideally:

• Be confident using hand and power tools
• Have good practical/mechanical skills
• Be able to read or work from technical or engineering drawings
• Have good attention to detail
• Be comfortable working within a manufacturing environment
• Have good communication and teamwork skills

Experience using micrometers, gauges or precision measuring equipment would be advantageous.
