Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £14.25 - £14.50 per hour

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming primary school in Cardiff that is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The school is looking for a caring and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to help a Year 1 pupil engage positively with their education.

The school is looking to take on a SEN Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis from September, working 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil with autism / ASD. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will provide consistent individual support, help the pupil engage with classroom activities and maintain their safety and wellbeing, including responding appropriately when the pupil runs from the learning environment.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have:

• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is desirable
• Experience supporting children with autism / ASD and additional learning needs
• Experience providing 1:1 support within a primary school or similar setting
• A good understanding of safeguarding and maintaining pupil safety
• A patient, calm and adaptable approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
